The service was top-notch. The food was absolutely delicious. The appetizer sampler platter was plentiful and very much enjoyed, I forgot to take a picture until after we started eating so some of it is missing. I had the lasagna special and it reminded me of my grandmother's. Extremely flavorful and large portions. The seafood pasta was phenomenal even the haddock was a stellar part of the dish. Plenty of food left over for lunch the next few days and the prices cannot be beat.
My husband is Italian and he really loves Italian food. Someone recommended a place in New Hampshire, so we drove there from Massachusetts and tried this restaurant! The first time, the food was good and we enjoyed it. 1 week Later, for his birthday, we decided to go again. Unfortunately, he didn’t like it this time. The portions were extremely large for one person, and we ended up bringing most of the food home.
Stopped into Ralphie’s Café Italiano in Salem, NH on my quest for the best meatball sub, and the core of this sandwich is legitimately strong. The meatballs were excellent — juicy, well-seasoned, tender, and clearly house-made with fresh herbs and peppers mixed in. The cheese melted perfectly and paired well with the overall flavor. Where things slipped was the amount of sauce. The sauce itself tasted good, but there was far too much of it, to the point where it overwhelmed the meatballs and caused the bread to soften and crumble. The roll had good flavor and structure, but the sauce ratio worked against it. Still, the meatballs were delicious and easily the highlight. With a lighter touch on the sauce, this could be a top-tier meatball sub. Overall, Ralphie’s Café Italiano is definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re chasing great meatballs.
Ralphie’s was absolutely delicious! We went this past weekend, and the food was amazing. If you like shrimp and pasta, I highly recommend the Angelica Pasta (I think that’s what it was called) it was to die for! Our server was kind and accommodating, and she even gave my nieces stickers, which they loved. They have food allergies, and the staff was wonderful about explaining what dishes were safe and making sure they had options. The atmosphere was really nice, too.
We went here for the first time last night. We sat at the bar and the service was great. The bar tender was attentive and friendly, even gave me some extra blue cheese stuffed olives for my dirty martini!! My significant other and I shared the chicken parm dish, which was literally cooked to perfection. You can tell the chefs put a lot of effort into perfecting the dish. The chicken cutlets were nice and crispy, the pasta was cooked just right, and there was the perfect amount of sauce and cheese, and seasoned well. The portion was HUGE- it was enough for both of us and we were full afterwards. Next time we come, we will be saving room for dessert!
This place is pretty good. The entrée that I ordered was off the specials and, unfortunately, I just didn't like it that much. It contained Italian sausage, eggplant, and rigatoni and I didn't like it that much. I would avoid the sausage dishes as their sausage is overpowering. However, my companions meals were more successful. The chicken picatta was excellent. And you want tripe? They have tripe. The service is great and you'll have enough food left over for lunch the next day. Given the portions, their prices are excellent. I recommend Ralphies except for the sausage dishes.
If large portions are your thing, you will love it here. The sauce is good. The staff is very friendly and you can definitely tell it's a family owned restaurant. Give it a try!
